Hi,
There's not a new one yet. Stick with FP until you get a good reason to
upgrade.

You don't need to use any new software until you decide you want to.

I'll add my 2 cents.

As others have said, feel free to stick with FrontPage. Support will
be ingoing for several years. However, I have to say that I am pretty
sure that there will be an exodus to Expression Web when it releases.
Why? Because it delivers on the one thing that FrontPage doesn't; it
creates Web sites that are standards-compliant and don't add
proprietary code.

What's the downside? Well, not much. If you currently use FrontPage
components in your Web site, they'll still work. However, you wont' be
able to add new FrontPage components. Web Components have been
abandoned because they are notorious for interoperability problems.
Microsoft (thankfully) decided to make a clean break and go with what
the standards recommend.

If you want to design your site for current standards, I would
strongly consider a look at Expression Web. You can download the
latest beta now from Microsoft at the following URL:

http://www.microsoft.com/products/expression/en/web_designer/wd_free_trial.aspx

If you're like many folks and just can't decide, feel free to run
both. FrontPage and Expression Web will co-exist peacefully.

Hope that helps.

I also have used FP for a while, and while I agree it does have some
shortcomings, I have used the trial version of EW and find it less than
appealing. It is cumbersome and has none of the pre-designed pages that FP
has. For thos of us who do not wish to learn HTML and or any of the other
languages, we'd prefer a product which simply steps us thru. Most of us
simply want to modify existinf FP webs and /or create new ones, much as we
did w/FP.

David,

Perhaps you are correct, however, I don't readily see that in EW. In FP you
simply click on new page and see the possible templates. I certainly don't
see that in EW?

Done that, been there, there are no options as exist in FP. Not trying to be
a pain here but I simply don't see those options in EW as I see in FP? File
New "DOES NOT" OFFER THOSE OPTIONS. If I missed something please let me
know. I am not a web design professional, just simply looking for a product
to replace the outgoing FP. My webs are very straight forward and I am the
web master for them, they are not complicated; they are a communication tool;
not a test in web design expertise.

What is stopping you from continuing to use your current version of FP?

I still use FP2000.

Go File > New.

You then get the "new" dialogue box.

You get two tab options "page and "website".

Click the "Website" Tab

Choose "Templates"

You are presented with a variety of templates to base your sites on. It's
up to you to change all the elements, but expression provides you with a
basic outline/site to get you started.

Expression doesn't have the extensive Themes/Templates" like Fp did, but the
web is your biggest resource for things like templates. Expression's sample
templates are built with/around the features that Expression offers, such as
CSS layouts.

Expression is *not* Frontpage - completely new product - with new &
different features.

You can continue using Frontpage if you need to. FP is not out the window
yet and MS still provide support for it.

If you need tutorials, then the Expression retail package should come with a
DVD as well as the CD-ROM - the DVD has a series of video tutorials for
learning the basics of Expression.
