I am new to webcam usage and I need to know how to use it on the internet. I
do not want to use any of the chat programs like Yahoo or MSN or ICQ. I have
NetMeeting but that freezes every time I try to call out. Is NetMeeting
meant to be used with High Speed modems or just dial up? I am NOT on a dial
up service. I also have CQ Phone but the quality of the picture is somewhat
poor compared to AMCap. But AMCap does not connect to the internet.
So I am a bit befuddled as to what I use with my webcam. I am using Win98.
Any help?

The webcam is essentially an 'add-on' for most web-based programs (
such as chat programs ) - so I don't think there are many specific
standalone cam apps as such.
If Netmeeting crashes then it's probably a fault with the cam's driver
- although you might check that you have the latest version of
Netmeeting.

There's a handy webcam utility that serves as a decent test for a
working cam ( amongst other things ) called Pryme. I find if I can
get a cam working in Pryme, it'll work in anything.

It is. It's no longer in development though - the author went on to
write Tincam, which is shareware.
