Have to shutdown twice after sp2 install

Hi All.

I've noticed some strange shutdown posts with XP since applying SP2
but my problem is that when I select Start->Shutdown and then select
"shutdown" from the dropdown box, my system just ignores me the first
time.

I have to select Start->Shutdown and select "shutdown" a second time
and then my machine shuts down as normal.

Anyone else have this behaviour since applying SP2?

I'm using WindowsXP Pro by the way.
 
You have managed to get further than me, when windows update starts to load
service pack 2, my system crashes!! Not sure why?

Hi Gus.

My problem miraculously disappeared :-)

But you may be better off downloading the entire SP2 .EXE file and
installing it after you've downloaded it. At least that way you can
reinstall it at a future date if you decide to re-setup your computer
again. Handy if you have XP on another PC too.

I don't have the URL I got it from anymore but its on the Microsoft
site somewhere. Its about 270Meg and is called
WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe
