Have Office XP disk, but just want FP to install, how

I have Office 2003 but I hate the FrontPage that comes with it. There are
too many things that don't work well, even with the newly installed drivers.
I also have my old Office XP disk that has FP on it and I liked the way that
version worked, especially my mouse wheel.

How can I get that FrontPage on the Office XP disk to install without
messing up the Office 2003 programs I have installed? When I put in the
Office XP disk it asks me for my serial and name, which I assume means it is
fixing to install the whole Office XP...and I don't want to do that.

You can tell it during setup to only install FP and nothing else.
BTW - what version of office 2003(pirated/beta?), cause office 2003 does not
come with frontpage anymore. FP2003 is a stand alone now.

You can remove the 2003 version of Front Page by inserting the installation
disk and selecting Custom Install. Deselect the Front Page program options
and it will be removed.

Place the Office XP disk into the drive and when the installation starts,
click Custom Install and deselect everything except Front Page. This will
install that version of Front page which will work and co-exist with the
Office 2003 programs.

Office 2003 is not shipped with FP included!!

I bought the computer used. It has FP 2003 and Word 2003 and Excel 2003.
Other than that, I just assume I have Office 2003 on the computer. The only
disk I have is Office XP.

Office XP is version 2002. Office 2003 does not ship in this configuration,
so they must have been installed separately as stand alones and not as part
of the ms office suite.

Try going to Add/Remove programs and see if you can remove FP 2003
from there. Worth a try.

As others have noted, your CD for Office is probably pirated as
FrontPage is no longer packaged with Office 2003. It is most likely
that the failures you are seeing are due to the fact that the person who
packaged up this pirated software did a poor job and provided you with
flawed software.

I'm going to assume that you thought you were buying legitimate
software. Return it to the vendor and ask for a full refund.

See www.microsoft.com/office for details about what is included in Office.

Rob, I never said I had an Office 2003 cd. I went back and read my original
post. It does not say I have an Office 2003 cd. But I can certainly see why
you folks would think that I have the cd since I said I had Office 2003. All
I have is an Office XP disk that I did buy. In fact, I just ordered sp1 on
cd from MS and it installed fine on my computer. Something must be legit! I
want to get the FP 2003 off the computer and put my Frontpage from the XP
disk on the computer.

And I bought the computer in a newspaper add, not from a vendor. At any
rate, I am installing Office XP, so it doesn't matter.

Yes, we often have to imagine the situation and here the imagination
wasn't correct. Apologies.

Also ... not sure what you mean by "put my Frontpage from the XP Disk on
the computer" as FrontPage is not part of XP either.

Yes it is

Really? I won't argue with your success here, but I've looked and looked
and I find no Microsoft FrontPage delivered with Microsoft XP. Where is
it? I guess I wasted money buying FrontPage 2002? IIS web server is
provided with XP Pro, but FrontPage something else. I'd be pleased to
learn more about this.

Sorry - misunderstanding. I thought you were talking about OFFICE xp.

Run the Office 2003 setup again, taking 'change' as the method, and
deselect Front page so as to uninstall it. You should then be able to
run the Office XP one, and in a Custom install choose only Front Page to
be installed

I don't think that will work, since Frontpage 03 is not part of the
Office 03 installation CD. It's a separate CD.
