hash and Pound sign key confusion

Hello I'm using XP, I have a hash symbol in my password and when I logon on
for the first time I have to press the shift and pound sign key to get in,
once in and I lock the computer the hash key works ok in note pad and when re
inputting the password...

I have the correct language setting and keyboard and I have even uninstalled
the keyboard to see if that helps all to no avail

any ideas

Try logging into the built in administrator account, is that set for English
or American.

Hi,
In Regional and Language Options have a look under the Advanced tab. Do you
have Default user account settings selected.???? If not try selecting it and
see if that helps.
