Hello.

Does anyone have any information on whether the issue
with "Wininet retries POST requests with a blank header"
issue described in Knowledge Base Article 831167 has
resurfaced?

This problem caused intermittent errors for secure sites
running SSL when users would post a form, and a retry was
performed in the background between the client and the
server.

It seems that this issue may have been introduced with the
automatic updates provided by Microsoft in February for
the Internet Explorer 6 browser. Then, a patch was made
available on the Microsoft web site to solve the issue for
those who wished to download and apply it. The matter
appeared to be solved in the March automatic updates. And,
it seems to have resurfaced with the April automatic
updates.

We would like to confirm the above officially and/or share
experience with others who may be wresting with this type
of issue. Thank you.

I think that the April IE update did something to cause
the "Page cannot be displayed" message but it doesn't seem
to be connected to a Post. I'm getting the message pretty
often and having nothing to do with forms. I have even
gotten it when trying to preview a Dreamweaver page in
IE. I think this is entirely local (i.e. it makes a
temporary file on the local drive and opens it with the
browser), so it's not an Internet issue. A reboot usually
fixes things up (Win 98se).

Sure would like to hear that someone has come up with a
fix or workaround.
