Problems installing new hardware, when clicking on add hardware message
states something like, currenlty installing new hardware, can only install
one item, please wait until complete. There is nothing being installed, how
do I find out what it thinks is being installed, and how do I stop it. It is
interfering with linking ipod to computer, I think!!

I have had similiar issues with the new 160 gig. Though not the fault of
Ipod but rather XP as the driver your Ipod needs comes with XP. Here's what
I did to at least get the Ipod to work with Itunes and function normally
though the New Hardware Wizard still appears whenever Ipod is pluggedinto USB
port in which I merely cancel each time (still working on resolving that
part).

Create a new folder called "Xp Drivers USB" or your name of choice.
Locate the "c:\windows\inf" folder and locate all INF files that contain
USB*.* and copy these files to the new folder. Next, go to
Windows\System32\drivers folder and locate all files with usb*.* and copy to
new above folder. When New Hardware Wizard for Ipod prompts you to locate
drivers point it to this folder. When you get the Windows prompt similar to
this message "Driver did not pass Windows certification" click "Continue".
Utlimately the usbstor.sys driver loads from the usbstor.inf file. When
completed installation you will get a second set of windows to install yet
driver. When pointing to the same location it ultimately fails. Your Ipod
should still show up in Device Manager under Disk Drives and itunes should
find your device (ipod) as well. All should work at this point.

This is the only work around I have ued so far. Apple higest level support
was clueless on how to resolve this so don't waste your time there though
they have taken my request and setn off to engineering dept. Only remaining
issue is New Hardware Wizard will load each time you plug in Ipod - just
click cancel when this occurs. Hope this helps for now

Anthony
