I'm having a USB hardware recognition problem. I
purchased a new flatbed scanner, and windows will not
recognize it. I have had the scanner replaced after being
on with a HP tech. support guy we tried everything and
his thoughts were tyhe usb on the scanner was bad. The
new scanner acts the same way. No error messages or new
hardware found. The scanner is a HP Scanjet 3970 Please
offer suggestions.

Mr. Rosputinski,

1.Were in the installation process does your computer fail to reconize the
HP Scanjet 3970?
2. Is your computer equipted with USB 2.0 Hi-speed connectors?
3. Did the software installation go O.K.?
Sorry if these questions are a little too general, but, the HP tech support
guy's answer of the scanners USB port being bad sounded a little lame,
especially after you had trouble with your 2nd replacement scanner.
4. Were both scanners HP Scanjet 3970s?
5. Did you have a previous scanner attached to this system, and did you
delete all the previous driver information before you started this new
install?
Thank you.

Mark
