Hi,

Anyone have any good suggestions on a decent Hardware
Firewall? I want to run it with the software Firewall.

Jeff

it really depends on your needs and desires, but i use a linksys BEFSX41
(link below) and i'm quite pleased with it. i don't even have a network,
but it does a fine job for my desktop here at home.

Hi,

Thanks for responding, I have an IO data wireless/4port
router with firewall abilities, but I just want a hardware
firewall only device. I used to have Linksys router,
until it died (after 4 years of faithful service), but
couldn`t find Linksys here to buy (being in Japan).

running a hardware firewall kind defeats the purpose of using a software
firewall like running two antivirus products can cause no end of conflicts
and configuration problems eithr use one or the other but not both and if
you
realy must have a hardware firewall/nat router take a look at cisco or
dcom
they have a good rep for their products

Hi,

Having both has its benifits in several ways. One, I`m
not dependant on a program that could crash or be
disabled, the hardware runs all the time and won`t be
affected, as for the software firewall, that can be
affected if something goes wrong with the OS.

Yep, I run two FW's and two AV's with e-amil scan and Anti-Spam, and I plan
on using a 3rd.

And when I can aford it, a hardware FW with Av and filters.
