Hi.I upgraded my NT Dc to W2000 Dc but I still in mixed
mode because I have 2 BDC.In my Dc all the time I have a
warning in event log :
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Cpqarray
Event Category: None
Event ID: 26
Date: 09/17/2003
Time: 6:00:58 AM
User: N/A
Computer: NTSERVER
Description:
The driver has detected that device \Device\Scsi\Cpqarray1
has old or out-of-date firmware. Reduced performance may
result.

My system is Compaq Proliant 3000 400 MHZ
Smart array 2DH

I install the support pack for this compaq model but in
device manager in SCSI and Raid Controller it knew "Compaq
Drive Array" not array 2DH,really I don't undrestand this
warning.Did it recognize the array or not?
Could you please help me?
Thank.
Regards
Mahnaz

You should upgrade firmware of RAID controller, or hard disk, or both.
Observe all Compaq diagnostic messages during reboot, it should point you
more precisely. Install Compaq WBEM and Survey on your Proliant to monitor
the hardware.

You have a very old array controller.

Even if you were to update the firmware on the card to v4.50, it might still
complain about its age.

This is more of a nag message than anything else. it is likely that the
driver you are using has features that are available to it that the current
firmware your controller has will not support. Such as online stripe size
migration. Update it in any case, just to be safe.

I would suggest that you try to locate a Smart Array 3200 controller on eBay
for this machine (between $50 and $100). Since you have the 3000, see if you
can run the cage in duplex mode. If so, the 3200 can allow you to have both
of the channel headers of the controller internal, so you can put 1 cable to
each side of the drive cage. You can then span your array's accross the
controller channels and improve your performance.

You can also get the Ultra2/Ultra3 upgrade cages for that machine. Same size
(physically), but it would allow for 10 internal drives. It would also allow
you to maximize the potential of the 3200 with Ultra2 drives... giving you
80MB/s.

Ohhhhh, the options. There are soooo many of them.
