Hi,

Lately my HD takes a lot of time to do any operations. It stays busy minutes
in a row.
When I boot up the computer it takes about 4 minutes until it lets me do
something.
I hear it doing some reads.
I have installed Norton Antivirus and Spy Sweeper.

Thanks

There are a LOT of different reasons why that could be happening. The drive
may be accessing the page file excessively resulting in slow response times.
Norton or Spysweeper may be scanning the system in the background. You may
have spyware/adware/malware/viruses that Norton/Spysweeper don't see.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a fix for that?

Dan, just a little warning:
I recently lost my hard drive, and the symptoms were laborious, excessive
paging and also doing all scanning functions way too long and way too often.
There were no weird noises and no bad sectors. I guess it failed
electronically. If you want to test your hard drive, go to Seagate
(regardless of your brand of HD) and download Seatools. Make a CD of it. Be
sure you have thorough backup of your files, too!
