Hard To Believe

I find it hard to believe that we don't have a way to check the status
of a printer in Access before we send the report there. Shouldn't this
be easy to do in Access? It's kind of like checking that the elevator
is in the shaft before stepping in!!!!! There has got to be a solution
to this other than API....I've been banging my head against the wall for
2 weeks looking for a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!
