When I try to delete a file(any size) or access a folder, my hard drives
crank very hard for at least a minute as if I am loading huge amount of
data. It usually happens the first time I access a folder or delete a file
after boot or idle for some mintues. I've tried to use "error checking"
tools in win XP. Doesn't seems to solv ethe problem. Any idea how to fix
it?

OS: Win XP Pro
File system : NTFS
Hard drive : Maxtor 6Y120L0

Thanks In Advance

Harold

Have you "defraged" your hard drive lately and how much free space is left
on it?

Yes, I did defragmented the Hard drive and I got 90GB of Free space out of
120.
