John O

can anyone out there tell me why my hard drive(either a
full disk or a partitioned one with logical drives)is
misreporting the amount of space thats used?

I purposely removed the files from two of them and
reformatted them, but they still say that i have files on
them..??? They are FAT 32 partitonss and NOT NTFS.
This problem is very perplexing and is driving me nuts.

Thanks for any help

John,

Um, what are the actual numbers. Formating does take up
space, depending on the size of the drive you can loose
around 2-5%.

Also check the jumpers on it. Some older drives have a
selection for 16 or 15 heads, this may be a souce of it.
If your mother board is newer than the hardrive select 16
heads.
Also the best bet is to look up your drive on the
manufatures website. All drive companies give detailed
info.
