Intel D915 MB- P4 -3.0. 1 gig ram - 3 200 GB WD Hard Drives- 1- 250GB WD
hard drive. One of the 200 GB drives is the op system. For some reason the
250 GB drive is running at 72C when the other three are running at
43,49,53C. It is mounted in one of the large drive bays under the DVD drive
and gets the same amount of air as the others. The drive is only a week
old.....Bad drive???
Thanks

What does the spec sheet say ? Look for you model on the
manufacturer's website for the recommended and max operating temps.

72C (161F) *is* hot. I doubt the drive is faulty. It's the airflow,
or lack thereof.

I keep my disks below 110F. Cooler is better.

You didn't say what was reporting this temp. Does the drive feel hot to the
touch? How does it feel in comparison to the others?

Yes, it is hotter the hell. I did change the position of the drive to one of
the cooler drives to see if it is a cooling problem by air or a "hot" hard
drive due to platter position...Will let you know.
