hard drive problems

ACPI_ERR_AMLI_ILLEGAL_IO_WRITE_FATAL
i am running windows xp home
my computer randomly shuts itself off
i have checked for viruses and have none
but i recieve this error.
Can anybody help me?
 
This is a BIOS problem. You need to contact your system manufacturer for an
updated BIOS.
 
Are you running any left over drivers?
If not it may be the hard drive is starting to fail.
Also, if some fans or memory are defective, they can cause errors.
