Hard drive not recognized in Disk Managment

I replaced my old 15 GB hard drive with a new 40 GB, I installed the old one
as a slave. The bios reads it and so does device manager. I went to disk
manager and the drive is not listed. I tried rescanning and still no luck.
Please help

Where do you see it in device manager?

Try: My Computer-Manage-Disk Management and see if the partitions appear.
