Hard drive just thrashing away and can't find out why?

R

Rich

My hard drive has just been busy doing something but I can't find the sorce
of the activity. I remember this when XP was first out and solved it then
with help from groups so I'm hoping to find the same help here.

Thanks, Rich

It is likely just indexing your drives. Without doing so, search will not
perform as designed.

If you just installed Vista it'll do that. Let it thrash for 1/2 a day or
maybe even a day and see if it'll stop. Mine thrashed for a few of hours.
Meanwhile just bare with it.

It's either the Windows Search, or defrag. I disable both right away, and
have zero thrashing.
