Hard Drive is Failing

When I reboot a message is posted in the event log saying that Drive 0
reports that failure may be inmminent; replace immdiately. Win XP is
installed on one of the logical disks on this drive. If I replace this 35
GB hard drive with a new 80 GB drive and ghost all the files from each
logical drive to an equivalent but larger logical dirve on the new unit,
should the system boot? Or will I have to reinstall Win XP to the new Hard
Drive and reinstall all my applications? Are there any tricks to know to
get the system to boot w/o reinstalling the O/S?

Thanks!

That's the intended way Ghosting/Imaging works. Best to use the bootable
media to avoid Drive Lettering and Device Manager detection issue(s).
*Do not allow XP to boot with both drives attached.

Most Imaging programs provide "Sizing" options to account for a larger
physical drive than the source - Plan ahead on what layout you desire to
use ( Expand to use entire drive or leave unallocated space to create a
new volume(s).

1.) Ghost the existing drive directly to the new drive.
2.) Remove the original drive, and jumper new one appropriately

I wouldn't perform this unless you have a Image stored off the PC for
safety reasons. - PCs are exceptionally good at finding a way to ruin
your day.
