hard drive is driving me crazy

ok, the problem was trend micro antivirus. but I do not get one thing, even
if inspection was scheduled every week looks like runs every day.

Many, if not all, of these programs have a start up option
called a 'system scan', 'quick scan', 'boot scan' or some
similar name. You may have to go through all of the options
and user adjustable controls in the program to find it. It
is usually separate from, and has nothing to do with the
'scheduled scan' setting which you indicate is set for weekly.

Personally, when I first set up a new system I do a complete
manual scan of all drives and turn of all automatic scan
runs. I then set the program to run in the background and
monitor incoming internet data and any files that are
written to and from the hard drive. About once a month I
will do a full manual scan for my own peace of mind. This
has worked well for me and I have never had a virus problem.
Keep your anti virus data files completely up to date and it is
unlikely that you will have any problems either. I presently
use NOD32 and have had as many as two or three anti virus
file updates a day. I have never used the Trend Micro
program, so have no opinion as to its quality or suitability.
