Hi

I,ve just installed a new hard drive, and I installed Win XP Home that was
on my recovery disc, onto the hard drive.

Now every time I boot up I get the message.
No disk or disk error so I have to use the recovery disc to boot up.

I've noticed that my H\D is in location 0 (0)
and my CD-R\RW ........is in location 0 (0).. too
and my DVD-ROM.......is in location 1 (1)

Don't know wether that has anything to do with it though?
Or do I have to buy the Win XP Home CD and put that on?
All answers will be appreciated ( in easy language please )

TIA

Sounds like your new hard drive needs to be partitioned
and formatted. Formatting prepares the hard drive for
holding all your files and programs. It also sets the
hard drive so that your computer can boot from it
(otherwise your computer will boot from the CD).

So to format it, you must have that option on the restore
CD.

The procedure is to boot from the CD and look for the
option to partition and/or format your new hard drive.
Only after you've done that the next option is to
transfer and restore to the new drive.

If this seems confusing or you don't see a format option,
contact the maker of your PC.

Note: If your PC came with XP installed, you can only
restore on the same original computer (not another one)
using a new drive.
