Hard Drive Error Message

I get the following error message from my D:, which is
the master on the secondary ide port, with a dvd drom as
it's slave. There is no help on this. does anyone know
what htis means?

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D
during a paging operation.

Run CHKDSK /R on the drive and see what that reports.

Also go to the drive manufacturer's web site and download their
diagnostic utility and run it to check out the drive.
