Michael

I have a new installation of XP Pro on a WD 800 drive
with an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard I and experiencing
something similar to an identified bug with drives greater
than 137 Gb Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 331958 but
with only a 80 Gb drive.

Then when I reboot I get the errors mentioned in MKB
Article - 314874

When I attempt to make the fix I get an "error occurred
during directory enumeration" a corrupt hard drive!

Then I reinstall XP Pro and a day later I have a corrupt
drive that can't boot again.

Will the patch in MKB Article 331958 help here or should I
look for another?

Michael, I use to get WinXP and Win2K pro corruption all the time until I
replaced my Power Supply. What is your Wattage rating? Should be at least
300W. Try that patch. You may want to use Motherboard Monitor to keep an eye
on
your voltages. Get it here
