Hello all,

I am in the market for a new internal hard drive and am having trouble understanding and matching up the specs.

My current drive is:
Hard drive,40G,IDE,1" 7200RPM,20G/P,Maxtor

1. Can an IDE drive be replaced by an Extended IDE (EIDE) drive?

2. Does /P before the last comma mean parallel ATA bus communication?

The drive I am looking at to replace my Maxtor drive is:
Western Digital
40 GB 7200 RPM Caviar WD400BB EIDE Internal Hard Drive
Usually Ships Within 24 Hours
Manufacturer Part# WD400BB
Dell Part# A0452531
Interface Type: ATA-100
Buffer Size: 2 MB
Spindle Speed: 7200 rpm

3. Is this Western Digital drive pATA or sATA?

Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks with many regards,
smithb2
