Hard drive after format

I run Windows XP Pro on a Via P4PB Ultra, Intel 2.4, 512 DDR RAM, and two
hard drives. The master is a Maxtor 80 gig and the slave is a Maxtor 200
gig. My computer is working great, but a strange issue is showing up after
I just reformatted and reinstalled all my software. Under windows explorer,
I can see my C drive and all the files. The font color is black. My D
drive font color is blue. I partitioned the D drive as a primary basic and
it is empty currently. Chkdsk shows no problems on either drive.
I do not care if the font color is different, but I have formatted before
and never saw this occur in the past. Any ideas? Thanks for your comments.

Hi;

Quite a few fine points to mention here as the new drive is way over
137gigs.

A- Machine
========
The Bios Version of the motherboard MUST accept drives over 137 gigs by
offering "Large Drive(s) Support" (LBA-48).

B- Operating System
==============

XP Pro and Home (both of the Standard Original Issues)
DO NOT handle drives over 137.

..You NEED "SP1" installed and

...THEN:"Large Drive Support" ENabled, that's LBA-48: ON/Activated)

.... which required a special download of the "activator"
for XP (with sp1 installed) to open the full "volume".
Availability: Ms Update Site.

===============================
A- Is the formatting scheme FAT32 or NTSF?
That info is not critical but most appreciate knowing!

B- Please explain as I and others that will join this thread will get a
clearer picture of what's the current state of affairs, the followings:

YOU...
....formatted "D:" drive as a "primary" "basic"...

Define exactly for the D: hard drive the :
"primary"
and
"basic"
using conventional terms.

We know that...
"C:" is on the Primary eIDE cable set as Master (?or:
------------------ --------
Cable Select?) and the ONE Partition was made/set as
--------------
"active"( this a while ago as the drive was already used).
-------

"C:" is obvious except for the jumper(s) position.

Also, was "D:" partionned and formatted while...

1- being by itself in the pc?
(The drive seen just like a "C:" really and you being
asked to OK the partition as "active").
or...
2- with the "C:" already in and in its current location
making the 200 gigger as real "D:" (second drive).
You were NOT asked then to make the partition
ACTIVE.

Fine line and distinction but the "end-product" is different.
1 vs 2 partitions were set as active.
Thanks,
Mikey

The reason you see drive D font color blue is that you have selected to
compress files/folders of this drive. Look in the properties of the drive.

Pavel,
You found the issue and I did the corrections, now looks like it always has.
Thanks for the response my friend.
