Hard disk problem

I have an External Lacie 500GB Big Disk Extreme Harddisk, connected by
firewire. I have around 300GB of data stored on the disk. My problem is that
the disk, which I had renamed "Archive", now is named "Local Disk" and when I
try to access the disk, I get a message saying the harddisk needs to be
formatted. I can no longer access my files. Is there no way of getting my
files back? Any help would be much appreciated.
 
Hi,

Try testdisk from cgsecurity.org, it should be able to recover the partition
data.
