Hard disk problem

P

Paul

A few day ago I done a clean installation of Win Xp pro plus SP2 (I was
using Win2k). I have 3 hard disks:
disk1 - Seagate 40Gb (boot disk) (2 partitions of 20Gb)
disk2 - Maxtor 80Gb ( 4 partitions of 20Gb)
disk 3 - Maxtor 200Gb ( 3 partitions of 60Gb plus 1 partition of 20Gb)

I am using the Maxtor utility Maxblast V4 and Maxtor 'Big disk enabler' to
overcome the problems of the large disk size with my bios etc. (this is the
same setup as I had with Win2k).
When I start Win xp from cold it reports disk2 as a single disk but
unformatted (unusable) - if I then carry out a restart from the shut down
menu it then shows disk 2 correctly formatted, partitioned and usable. I
cane carry out as many soft restarts as I want and disk 2 is ok but as soon
as I shut down and then start up again, disk 2 is shown unformatted.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Paul

You should not need Maxblast V4 and Maxtor 'Big disk enabler' in XP SP2 that
proplom was fixed

You may want to test by booting with a floppy and | fdisk | partition |
format | reinstall XP without the Maxtor and let XP install and format all
partitions.

You will find much more info at:
