Hard Disk Failing?

I mounted a 2nd 120GB hard Disk about a year ago and loaded XP Pro on
it. I have noticed that it has begun to make "clicking noises" and
the drive seems to slow or hesitate when this occurs. The older
reformated Drive, 40GB, has been used mainly for back up.

My question is, can I load XP Pro on this old Drive and operate as a
dual boot system until I replace the failing drive? If so, how should
I accomplish this?
My PS is a Dell Dimension 850 with 765 MB Ram.
...........Thanks in advance.............DBG

Hi,

First things first, download a drive diagnostic utility from the web site of
the drive manufacturer. Use it to assess the state of the drive. If it is a
candidate for replacement, start backing up your files immediately. You can
create a second installation on the old drive, but it will not be bootable
per se, as the boot files will still be on the primary drive - if it fails,
then niether operating system installation will load.
