Anybody advise me how to do this, please? I follow an instruction book and use the onscreen guidance, but at the point where Backup Progress appears saying: 'The files for the recovery diskette could not be created. The operation was aborted.

Any ideas why, please?

All of us have been through this same issue when we first set out to backup our systems. After a little research we find out that NT Backup will not create a backup to any CD or CD\RW. It is missing one essential element and that is "disk spanning" capabilities. A CD will store only around 620MB of information and the OS is much larger than that. Thus a true "backup" utility needs to copy the OS to several disks thus needing to "span" those disks for a contiguos backup. You have to buy a third party sofware like Norton Ghost then learn to use it in order to make a complete backup of your OS. You can of course use NT Backup to backup any files that you would use on a daily basis and then copy those to a CD as long as they don't exceed the 620MB maximum.
