Handle is invalid?

I've been using Firefox .9 as my browser for a few weeks without
problems. Tonight I upgraded to its final release, version 1.0. After
the message said it was successfully installed, I tried to open it and
got an error message: "The handle is invalid." Then I tried to open a
few other apps and got the same message. I rebooted but still get the
same message when trying to open many programs. I can't even get into
System Restore or Help and Support. What's going on?

I did a search in the Mozilla forums and found no references to this
problem. But I think it's a system thing. I just downloaded a new
program file, but couldn't open it. Got the same error message: "The
handle is invalid." Very frustrating. The only main programs that seem
to be working are IE (which I just re-activated), Word, and Thunderbird
email/news client. I tried Kelly's Korner registry fixes for restoring
Help and Support, but still get the same message.

Problem is solved. I absent-mindedly set a global restriction on
program executions in Process Guard earlier today, and the setting
started denials when I made program changes. Dumb.
