I recently was having problems with x800XT-PE and halo running on MS WINXP
SP2 pro

The menu wouldnt come up nor would in-game text if i tried beta drivers (for
more infor look for the post "MSXMLENUmsi problems"

anyways after haggling for a couple days with these troubleshooters here and
finally getting the response that this was a bungie problem , IT WAS NOT,

i returned to a image of imy hard drive with SP1a and the same software that
i had installed with the SP2 played halo with catalyst 4.7 and it worked,

so MS Idiots looks like again your software does not run with your games, go
back to testing your crap some more beofre you decide to spread it around.

Update : the beta Cat4.8 even has ingame text with sp1a directx 9.0c installed.
SP2 has to be a problem was it released too early?

hey genius, first of all sp2 is actually out, ur basicly using a beta meaning
it WILL have problems, second when has microsoft ever been reliable? why
bother coming here windows will always have problems with everything no
matter which windows it is, and no without them you would NOT be playing
seeing as halo wouldnt have been created nor would windows and everyone would
be usings macs and eventually the computer as a gaming device would cease to
exist (at least for awhile)

I don't know if you have this specific issues, but if you were running
either the RC1 or RC2 beta on your machine at some point and at the same
time made changes to the games, those changes would be removed as you moved
to the next build. There are Registry changes with XP SP2, so not
everything may be functioning properly if you've had this scenario.

Odd-- halo has run on my systems without a problem using the pre-release
version that was released to the semi-public. There were initial problems
when it was first installed when I was using SP1(a). It turned out that the
video drivers and the Nforce2 drivers needed some updates. There are still a
few odd corners in Halo that will occasionally crash. (Mostly when you
wander way off into areas far removed from the game action.)

This is not a problem with the SP2 betas

These problems are with Service Pack 2 (clean install)

Catalyst 4.8 FINAL - no in-game text, XML Parser won't work
Catalyst 4.7 FINAL - can't get to the Halo menu screen - fixed by changed
AGP Aperture size in bios to 128
