HALO movement stuck

I'm having problems!!!!! I have been playing HALO trouble free for months and now i am unable to move (forward,back,side to side in campain and multiplayer) for more then a few steps at a time, everything else about the game is running fine. I have chaged settings for the movement keys... reinstalled the game... updated drivers.... I didn't download or change any settings between the game working fine and this problem.... ruled out the keyboard....any thoughts?

Hi Fred,

Is the game freezing when this happens, or do you see action
on the screen but your input is just being blocked somehow?

Thanks for replying Jimmy S. No the game is not freezing, i can shoot, jump, turn, throw grenades, use my flashlight even he just stops running... when i release the movement key and press it again he moves again for a bit the stops... i've had him running against a wall for several min. in campaign mode, he seems to stop when i use the mouse?!?

You're Welcome Fred.

Is it possible that it thinks your mouse is a game controller?
Try fiddling with the mouse settings in the game, and if that
doesn't clue us in to anything, use Task Manager to shut off
any processes there that are related to the keyboard or mouse.

I've changed the mouse & keyboard, other problems seem to arise...talked to microsoft: the last tech i talked to had me uninstall halo then put my XP disk in..... re do xp, install halo and am now getting error message

The microsoft techs couldn't figure out what was going on so they bumped it up to the next leval, they said i would here from someone over the next couple of days so i reinstalled everything (Xp, the works) l on my computer and changed my mouse and seem to have the game running O.K. except there is no text dialog in multiplayer....... No welcome or players coments and it does not list the kills, when i press T or Y the bar across the bottom comes up but no cursor and i can't type anything..... by the way i was using a microsoft wireless miltimedia keyboard and mouse, always have been (since before getting Halo) somehow now the mouse is/was stopping my guy from running leaving all other controls intact yet worked fine with all other games and applications.....hmmmmmm..... any thoughts on how to fix the multiplayer dialog problem or why the mouse thing happened?.....

Hi Fred,

Yes, that's an easy problem to correct!

For Missing Text/Chat: Reinstall XML from the HALO CD directly
by running msxmlenu.msi which is located in the Redist directory.

Hi Fred,

I wonder if there's an issue with your CD. Can you install the
game temporarily on another system to test that theory? If it
doesn't work on the other system either, make sure to keep
the tech at Microsoft you're in touch with aware of that. TY.

| Reinstalled and it got rid of the parsing error.......so i'm just missing the text/chat....lol.... if i knew just alittle less i
wouldn't cause so many problems for myself because i wouldn't be trying to fix this i think......
