Half installed programs

Tried to install XP Pro, but it stopped and said there was a missing file but
when I searched it was there!! How can I uninstall a half done program that
does not appear in the control panel?

This doesn't make sense.

If the XP Pro install did not complete then the computer should be
still trying to complete the install or it should have reverted to
whatever version of Windows was previously installed.

We need more detailed information and a clearer explanation as to just
what is actually going on now.
