HAL misdetects 2nd processor

Howdy. I have a server that has been running flawlessly for the last 3-4
months with dual processors. Recently W2K has been booting up with only one
processor, sometimes though it will boot up with two. I have attempted to
reinstall the multiprocessor drivers, but no luck. Right now it's a crap
shoot whether or not 1 or 2 processors will load on each reboot. This
server needs both processors. Any ideas why it would behave this way? Any
assistance would be appreciated. The BIOS always recognizes both
processors.

Thanks!

Was this machine a clean install or did you happen to upgrade it from NT4?
I have seen cases where UPTOMP was used in NT4 and then causes similar
things once the machine is upgraded to 2000.

Had an old SS7 system that would do something similar every great once
in a while. I'd blow out the heatsinks, trip the ZIF socket lever a
couple times to reseat the CPU and all would be fine for a good while.
Perhaps the heating and cooling cycles....

Thanks for your response. This was a clean install.
