Dell 755 with 8200 processor - Image fails

Hi we have approx 600 Dell 755's which work with our corporate image (as long
as we change BIOS settings for Sata etc) -

all our previous 755's have the 6550 Intel processor

We have just received 25 PC's on which the image fails before sysprep
process and goes into an infinite rebooting loop - it is not possible to go
into Safe Mode, we have tried adding the 755 chipset driver's into the image
and recaptured on a working 755, also tried repair of windows, and F6 and the
SATA drivers before repair.

We have identified the issue is the 8200 processor as we swapped the
processor's from working 755's, the image process fails consistently on
machines with the 8200 processor.

We are wondering if there is a windows file that is processor dependant, we
have also tried turning the dual core processor option off in BIOS, turned
off VPro. Upgraded the BIOS to A10.

Any advice would be great as we wish to avoid recreating the image, a
straight install of windows xp from CD works fine and has same Hal as our
current image.

Thanks Cat

I have the same exact issue. I dumped about 10 different images to my 755's
syspreped with a version of sysprep.ini that detects the hal type. It doesn't
work no matter what I do. The only difference is that i have the 8400 chip.

The problem is in the bios. The bios needs to be set to SATA mode instead of
AHSATA. That should fix the problem.

Hi Phil - Unfortunately this is not our issue, we have changed to SATA ATA,
this is definitely processor related, if we take out the Intel 8200 processor
and put in an intel 6550 processor the machines boots to windows fine.
