My Windows XP got corrupted through Norton. I started
getting a TCP/IP error message. Through 5 hours with
Microsoft and a few minutes with ISP, I am now back on
and running again. Is there anyway to reinstall
WordPerfect, Microsoft Word and restore my favorites from
the C drive, i.e., the files are there I just cannot use
them because it says "reinstall." Thanks for help.

What sort of "re-install" did you do? You may find you'll have to
reinstall your apps.

Since you didn't supply much information on your configuration, the only
advice is a speculation based on your post.
You will either need to restore you system to it's original shipped state
and then run the XP upgrade, or reinstall your applications from the
original install media.
Post back with more detailed information.

Hi:
When my machine crashed because of one of software's
upgrade failure, I reinstalled XP by using 'Recovery
Disk' I acquired through manufacturer, hp.

In my case, I recall that I had such a hard time
to 'reinstall' Word 2000, that never occurred when I
installed it right after the purchase of the machine.
Then, I posted this annoying problem on 'Office/Word.'
Someone gave me a good hint to 'reinstall' Word, since
after the crash/reinstall XP, normally 'upgrade version
of Word 2000' is hard to 'reinstall.' Needs some trick
to do the job right. Luckily, I succeeded it tho'.
So, in my guess, you're one of this group who has to
struggle with this scenerio. I would like to give you
the trick I did, ... however this may not work on your
case, ... due to different manufacturer and so on. The
best bet is try to post your problem 'MS Word/Office' NG.
(Better to explain your problem in detail on there,
manufacturer of your machine, circumstances and so on.)
Another suggestion is try to contact your machine's
manufacturer rather than Microsoft because of the nature
of problem, 'Reinstall.' I did contact hp directly upon
the crash and got a good answer for this. But, need to
expect some 'Fee' to pay for the help you'd get.

Also, regarding favorites, you might not able to recover
unless you saved on a third party, like by using 'BackUp'
software .... not XP itself. WordPerfect might be same
as Word, ... but I have no idea, since I don't use it.
Good Luck on your effort/work on computer!
Annie E.
