had no welcome screen

I had no welcome screen and had to reinstaall xp on 2nd
registry. Could it have been, a beta version of AOL
(Thailand), could it have been Chameleon (the utility for
changing the welcome screen) or could it have been a theme
or logon screen that I downloaded? Thanks for any help.
 
My guess would be that your problem has to do with either
Chameleon or the theme that you've downloaded (maybe both
combined). Occasionally, when you install new
applications, they install drivers so that they run
properly. The problem is, sometimes these drivers do not
work with Windows XP. It is typical to have boot-up or
power failures (ie, Windows shuts down or restarts
without warning)when a faulty driver is installed. I
recommend that you insure that both the application and
theme that you downloaded and installed are supported by
XP, or avoid them all together.
