I use windows xp pro. 256mb ram.
Even immediatly after I installed windows I noticed that the hard disk
light blinks in 1 second intervals. nothing is running on the computer
except windows.
How can I stop this? I expect no hard disk access when nothing is
running.

G'Day Yehuda,
When nothing is running:
the HDD light does not blink.
the Clock stops
e-mail is not received
the Keyboard does not work
the ISP and the Internet are unreachable
the Screen goes blank
the Lights go out
the Mouse does not work
other Computers report an Unplugged Network Cable

When the HDD light blinks:
Something is running
the Clock works
e-mail arrives
the Keyboard .....

Don't worry about the light blinking. If it stays on, worry! The system has
several functions that run when it is idle.

Hi,

More than likely the indexing service, it will eventually slow down. On a
new installation, it will be very active.
