It taken me all morning to cut 3 Cd's (incl LightScribing which was a total
pain but thats another story)

I burned them as mp3 (data disc) using Windows (not media player - altho i
expect there is a connection)

None of them work because Vista has included some picture files - and as a
result my DVD recognises it as a picture disc

How do I stop Vista adding picture files and just burn the mp3's I told it
to?

Smack yourself upside the head for getting Vista and get a Mac lol j/k i love
the blue screen of death! i would say do not burn discs through windows at
all and get a 3rd party burner like roxio or godforbid nero.

You probably can't: after all, it's Vista.

There's plenty of alternative burner software, free, unfree and bundled.
However, it's all designed to print money the media manufacturing industry,
by ensuring that most disks that get burned get trashed.

The most common and obvious cheat is that you can't usually choose the write
speed, because reliablility improves if you write slower than maximum speed.

How did you tell it to just burn MP3s? If you just copied the album folders
into the burn list, that would probably have included the album art, since
you would want to have included those if you were backing up the folders to
disc.

Why is it bad that your "DVD" is sniffing this as a picture disc? Does it
then fail to let you play music? ... This sounds like a limitation of your
DVD player..... ?

You can actually burn Music to either - but assuming I meant CD's - what is
your solution?

Hi

I dragged the whole folders (about a dozen) because there's too many tracks
& my DVD player & car stereo support folders

I looked but there are no hidden files in the folders - only 'after' burning
do they appear (on my CD) - so they are being added during the burn

The discs work in my car but the DVD player sees the pictures and that's all
it will play

If i could only get Vista not to make pictures on the disc (e.g. to treat
..mp3 like any other data)

Turn on Show Hidden System Files, not just Hidden files.

This sounds like a bug/defect in your DVD player that you might want to talk
to them about, since if it's bothering you it's probably bothering others.

It is treating MP3 like any other data - you're dragging *folders*, not the
*files*. If you drag the files, you'll just get the files. Because you're
dragging the folders, you're getting the folders and *all* the contents.
What you're doing is by design - you're expecting Windows to psychically
know that you don't want *some* files. Which ones should it have known to
exclude? =)

Looks like you have a route forward here now. Cheers. =)

You are quite right - I turned on system files and now i can see they were
there all the time (not added to the burn)

I can easy delete the pictures before the burn - Thanks!
