groups, ou's and assigning resources

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to
deploy certain resources with a group using an OU? I am
under the impression groups are only for permissions and
OU's are for GPO's. When you assign resources (printers,
network drives, etc.) with users are you simply using a
script to query the groups a user belongs to then
assigning the resources that way? Where does the script
go, netlogon folder on the server, scripts in the GPO?

OR, do you use trusted groups in the GPO to do the same
thing?

Sorry for the vagueness of my post but I am looking for
someone to point me in the right direction and I will take
it from there.

Thanks in advance.
