I thought that when creating a category in BCM the same category will appear
in others computers sharing the same network and the same data base where BCM
is located.Unfortunately categories can't be shared how can I make this
possible to share the categories I created with other computers or is there
a chance to copy categories into other computers , please help

I think this happened because you added a category to your record locally,
from the top of the Category screen, using the ADD button?
You probably need to add that category to the Master Category list (the
button at the bottom right of the Category screen). You will need to add to
the Master list all the categories you want everyone to see, and then
reselect those for your Contacts.

The categories were created in the Master list, my co-workers( the same
network and data base users) do not have the categories I created, how it is
possibles?
Any other changes I do within contacts, accounts appear in BCM for everybody
Please advise

OK, so here's what I would do -
1) make sure that all users are really connecting to the same shared
database. That probably means going to each station, find the BCM database
properties menu, and see what the DB is called for each person, and where
it's located. I'm at home right now, and BCM-less, so I'm directing you
without being to check my steps.
2) go to your station, make a change to the Master categories list, and
check that it appears in the BCM install of a co-worker.
Post the results of these two tests, and I will reply further.
Let's start there,
Susan

I was working on this yesterday. I installed a BCM V2 DB with a master list
of categories, then shared it out. The categories from that initial master
list appear for each contact, BUT they're not available on the two PCs that
connect to the shared DB. So these must be created locally, I guess, and do
not reside on the shared DB?? Looks like I have to enter these manually, on
every station. It would be nice if I could import them via a .CSV like the
Product list.

I can't test this out on BCM Beta V3, because that crashed and I'm having
trouble reinstalling BCM on Outlook 2007.

So it looks like you hit a design flaw. Unless someone else knows more, the
only way around this is to create a Master list on each PC installed with
BCM. Sorry!

Categories for Outlook are kept in the windows registry of each machine.
These must be entered manually on the Master category list of each machine.
This type of sorting designation should be more easily shared rather than
requiring the hassle of having to manually duplicate these entries.

Yes, and not only should you be able to import a shared list to the DB, but
if you can't, then the HELP should say that Master doesn't mean Shared to
many, it means Common to one.

The master list concept is flawed anyway, as far as I am concerned.

Can anyone give me a good reason why we need it? :)

Drum roll please (from the Outlook 2007 help file)
a.. The Master Category List from earlier versions of Outlook is not
included in Office Outlook 2007. Any category that is not assigned to an
item that is included in the upgrade is not included in Office Outlook 2007.

That does prompt the question - what exactly happens. Sounds like more
testing to me. :(

The problem is that once i create 60 categories (which it is not a problem
for me as I am the main BCM data entry person) other user( 12) cant share
the same categories and they have to retype by themselves.
