Grouped sheets page formatting will copy the header

When I select all sheets in a group and format the pages (in page setup), it
copies the header from the first worksheet to all the worksheets. How can I
stop this from happening?

Don't edit the header while the sheets are grouped together - this
includes just selecting the header to have a look at it, as Excel will
assume that you have changed something and will then apply it to all
the grouped sheets.

Hope this helps.

The active sheet header is applied to all sheets in the group even if no
header changes are made.

All settings from the active sheet except printrange and rows to repeat at
top get duplicated when sheets are grouped.

The only workaround I know of is to set headers manually sheet by sheet.

Which could also be done via VBA

Thanks Gord.

Your comment reminded me that it happened to me once several years ago
after I had painstakingly set up individual headers in a number of
sheets, and then made the mistake of grouping the sheets together for
some other reason - I had to change them all back individually again.
Consequently, I try to avoid grouping sheets now, and just use a
simple header which is applicable to all sheets. I had (temporarily)
forgotten why.
