Win XP Pro SP1, "Group Similar Tasks" option under task bar and start menu
properties is missing. It's not grayed out or unclickable, but simply not
there. There's just a bunch of space between "Keep the task bar on top" and
"show quick launch" It seems that changing the value of TaskbarGlomming in
the registry has no effect either. What could be causing this, anyone have
any ideas?

thanks for the reply, unfortunately none of that helped, looks like a good
site though, I'll have to keep it for future reference. As I said in my 1st
post, the TaskbarGlomming registry key is there and it doesn't matter what
it's set to, it doesn't work. 1 or 0 makes no difference. I even tried
deleting and restoring the key, no change there either. What else controls
this?

That is because it is disabled via gpedit.msc

Go to Start/Run: gpedit.msc
In the left pane: User Configuration/Admin Templates/Start Menu and
Taskbar.
In the right pane: Double click - Prevent grouping of taskbar items and set
as Not Configured.

Ok, your way out.

Awesome, thanks. I thought it might have been a group policy, but after
searching though them I didn't see it. Guess I just missed it. Thanks a
lot :)
