I have xp Home service pack 2 running on my home computer. My firewall is
turned off by "group Policy". I cannot find how to fix this. And I don't
know why it is this way. I am not networked in a domain. Any ideas?

Go to Start > Run and type: Regedit , and hit enter.

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall\DomainProfile

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall\StandardProfile

In the right-pane, delete the "EnableFirewall" value.

Close Regedit and restart.
