Hi all,
I have a server with 2 nics where in it is acting as AD,FW and
mailserver.I want to configure group policy in that but when i want to apply
the GP to the domain in AD users and computers it gives 3 options saying the
doamin controller not found.the 3 options for searchinf the domain controller
are
1 --- server acting as PDC emulator
2---- existing doamin controller
3---- any available domain controller
I selected each one of the options one by one but it gives a error saying
"Domain controller not founbd".....please help me in this as i doubt this is
because of 2 network card i have installed in the server , 1 for local
intranet and one for connecting to internet.

It is best to avoid using more than one network adapter in a domain
controller whenever possible. What I would try is to make sure that the
domain controller is pointing to itself as it's primary dns server by the IP
address of the internal nic only in tcp/ip properties. Also go to network
connections/properties/advanced/advanced settings and make sure that the nic
for the internal lan is at the top of the list. Then for the external
adapter in it's tcp/ip properties for dns make sure that "register this
connection" is unchecked. In the dns Management Console, for the properties
for the dns server make sure that it is listening ONLY on the internal
network adapter. For good measure when done do the following in this order -
Ipconfig /flushdns, Ipconfig /registerdns, netdiag /fix, net stop netlogon,
net start netlogon. You may have to install the netdiag support tool first
by running the setup program in the support/tools folder on the install
cdrom. --- Steve
