Group Policy on Windows XP

Hi guys

My Security Centre wont able me to disable my firewall when I try to I get
this message "For your security some settings are controlled by Group
Policy". I cant make any changes. I only have one user on my computer, it is
a home computer. Can someone please help me to diable this pleas.

How to resolve the problem depends on if you have XP Pro or XP Home and if
local Group Policy [via gpedit.msc] has been modified on an XP Pro computer.
See the link below on how Group Policy and registry settings are used to
manage the Windows Firewall. If you are sure that a Group Policy setting has
not been modified then logon as a local administrator and use regedit to
navigate to and delete the registry keys that are causing the restriction if
you are comfortable editing the registry. Otherwise you can use
services.msc to stop and disable the Windows Firewall service. --- Steve

My system Information is as follows -
Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

I do not understand the register can you please give me step by step
instruction sorry to impose but I really need to diable the Group Settings.

How to resolve the problem depends on if you have XP Pro or XP Home and if
local Group Policy [via gpedit.msc] has been modified on an XP Pro computer.

I tryed both ways and neither worked do you have any other ideas.

You were not able to stop and disable the Windows Firewall service? If you
did the Windows Firewall can not function and this is what you will see when
you run the command netsh firewall show state . --- Steve

D:\Documents and Settings\Steve>netsh firewall show state
The service has not been started.
