group policy in DC

Frodo

Hi all,

I would like to know how can I reset the group policy in
an AD environment back to its default config?

Currently, the GPO doesnt take effect on the config
i applied.
Example, the password complexity is set as "Not Defined" but
whenever I tried to change my password it will prompt me
the new password does not meet the requirement.

I have other issues as well, so I need to reset all back to default
policy.

Thanks in advance.

Howdy Frodo!

The password complexity is - like *all* password policies a special
case. Password policies must be linked at domain level (or edited in the
Default Domain Policy) to take effect. Password Policies linked to
other containers like OUs will only affect local machine accounts.
I have other issues as well, so I need to reset all back to default
policy.

You want to change *all* policies back to default or just a few ones
that do not work? If none of your policies is working, something else
might be your problem than group policy itself.

Anyway, to "reset" the policies you simply need to delete the policies
or set them to "not defined". If you are running Windows Server 2003 and
messed around with Default Domain Policy and/or Default Domain
Controller Policy, you could have a look with dcgpofix.exe.

Maybe we could help you better, if you told us what your issues are.

cheers,

Florian

Thanks Florian.

We are running w2k svr and would like to *reset* all the gpo
to default values.

Thanks again.
