Scenario: Client has Small Business Server 2003 and Windows XP with a couple
of Office XP but mostly Office 2003. A Canon network printer/copier can be
used to scan documents and deliver by email. You select the user from a list
on the printer and hit the go button, job done. The printer delivers a blank
message coming from (e-mail address removed) and having a PDF attachment.
If the user has outlook open and set for alerts on incoming messages they
get the 'New mail has arrived, do you wish to view it?' but when hitting
'Yes' the message cannot be found. It cannot be found because it has been
moved by outlook to the junk email folder.
Outlook uses the GAL to recognise 'Safe Senders' but in this case no user
'mail' exists, the user 'reception' (primary email (e-mail address removed)) has
(e-mail address removed) as an additional address for historical reasons.
I've downloaded the ORK2003 and additional adm files and sure enough, there
in outlook11.adm is a setting 'Specify path to Safe Senders list'. I take it
I just create \\sbs\company\safesenders\list.txt and have a single line
entry for (e-mail address removed). The list will be editable so that management and senior
staff can add further addresses (possibly read-only for plebes).
Off to group policy. So I create and link a new policy at the domain level,
import the adm, point it to the list.
Done????

I also need the Outlook10.adm because the 11.adm will not effect OXP. Right?
BTW I'm stuffed if I can find this as a download on MS.
Can the 'safe senders list' contain a reminder 'This file should have one
email address per line' or similar? Does it need to be commented out in some
way?
Will the network 'safe senders' be in addition to or replacement of the user
local copy? There is a policy element 'Overwrite or Append Junk Mail Import
list'. I'm guessing if I append then local+network will be used, or is this
irrelevent?
If the network version is read only for most users does this mean they
cannot have their own list?
