group contact button missing--tried other advice on site

I have read the other threads on-line about the group button that is missing
and right clicking on the right side and pulling it from a drop down....it
isn't there either--also tried finding it thru the explore button thru
contacts--I am at a total loss. Not sure what else to try, please let me
know what else to try--My computer says I have no updates to install...

1. Open Windows Contacts
2. Right click anywhere in the right pane.
3. Select "Properties" at the bottom of the list
4. Click the "Customize" tab on the "Properties" page that opens.
5. Change the "Folder Type" to "Contacts".

problem.

I created a new group contact list and closed it down but now can't find it.
I followed the advice to right click in the field and open the properties
button. Have tried this but the 'properties' button is greyed out and won't
open so I would be grateful for any other ideas TIA John
