My hard drive is grinding on well after boot up time. High CPU usage rate as
well. Computer generally slow. Have re-booted several times. Not a lot of
stuff on desktop or C drive. Where should I start? Thanks.

You're positive it's the hard drive and not another fan in your system?

If you're drive is grinding I would start taking steps to backup important
information.
If you're computer is still under warranty I would let the manufacturer
know, if not you will have to start shopping for a new Hard Drive.

Might be the hard drive, but before investing in a new one, run Dsik
Defragmenter and your anti-viris software.
